Carrie and John Bishop

Woo, a finished piece! I tried a slightly different method of coloring this time didn't use highlights. It definitely makes coloring easier and takes less time, but I'm not sure how much I like it, especially with Carrie's dress. What do you guys think? I'm considering also maybe just adding some more shadows to show more values? I've noticed in a lot of cartoons lately though, mainly Ninja Turtles and Fullmetal Alchemist, that the only shading is one value of a darker color off the base, with the exception of hair. So, I tried to copy it.

Okay, but enough of method. x_x I guess this is the first picture I've posted of Carrie. I'm pretty pleased with how she came out (aside from her dress being out of the period...maybe they're at a masquerade party!) I really like Carrie's character and I can't wait to write her. She's kinda based off of Lia D'Beaumont from Le Chevalier D'Eon in the fact that she's an extremely protective big sister, and she's bright and well informed of early American politics. She is also opinionated and passionate. So anyway in this scene, such as it is, Carrie's spotted the man she likes, Thomas Hoynes. But John doesn't like him at all, so he's sulking. Here Carrie is about 19 and John is 15 or 16. Yay.
